Materials

Timber

Our timber of choice is Ash. Its generally pale colour and attractive grain is set off beautifully by the colour we add. Some items, such as the soap dishes and fridge magnet posy vases, are best suited to Beech. The timber is sourced locally in the UK, as much as possible from windblown or dead trees.

Clocks

Our clocks are fitted with a high quality quartz movement. These movements are of a well established design, and will run accurately for many years. Supplied with a battery.

Lamps

Our lamps are made with quality brass fittings, and are wired to UK standards. Bases and shades are offered separately so you can use your own shade if you wish.

Other materials

The glassware we use in our vases and tea lights is nice and chunky to survive the knocks life can throw at it.

The paints and varnishes are all good quality, water-based finishes, and do not contain any nasty chemicals.

Our food boards are finished with a special 'food safe' oil. Care instructions are included.

The Wonky clocks are finished with a wax/oil mixture to protect and enhance the grain.

Soap

We sell soap bars from Shetland Soap Company, which is part of COPE Ltd, the multi-award-winning social enterprise, based in the Shetland Islands. Shetland Soap ethically sources all its raw ingredients from companies based here in the UK. For details of the ingredients they use please visit the Shetland Soap Co website, where you can also order direct from their ranges of soaps and other skincare products.

Packaging

The majority of our packaging is recyclable or recycled paper or cardboard. The exception is the cellophane bags we put our fridge magnet posy vases in. These bags are designed for retail shop use, so if you would rather not receive your order in one, just let us know and we will use alternative packaging for you.
